Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "any day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate issued a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Following the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to speak on the tragedy was made.
