'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Teens Desperately Seek News After Alpine Fire

The loved ones of teens lost after a deadly blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are confronting an excruciating wait for official news and appealing for clues about their loved ones online.

The blaze ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Circulated footage reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have indicated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and hurt another 119. A spokesperson noted on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to identify the remaining few.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been using the internet to appeal for any news about their missing relatives who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, explained to a publication that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. It's horrific," she said.

She explained that some of his friends had been found with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian foreign ministry has confirmed that six of its citizens remain missing.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now living in Dubai.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is deceased, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has stated that a official announcement of his death is still pending.

Additional Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His parent told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the venue.

"Someone with him said they escaped after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers commented, "I remember his good nature and smile, alongside great responsibility. He would frequently ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.

Her sibling has published an urgent request on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the developments.
