Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered condolences for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
