A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a recorded message which posed: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who a jury heard has consistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and evidence recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is among the most widely reported investigations and is still unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Isn't that important for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a existence here in Poland, I just want to know," she added.

The tribunal was told that by means of emails, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, sent early photographs to her phone in a bid to show a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who collated the data, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to family friends of the McCanns, according to the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court heard the co-defendant developed a relationship online with Ms Wandelt preceding joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in that winter.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had contacted using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to say the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the period before the appearance to Rothley, that area, in December 2024.

The court learned message exchanges between the two accused, in that autumn, discussing attempting to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from cutlery at a restaurant.

"We need to take action," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their residence, Mrs Spragg sent a message which said: "We are sitting near the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark like investigators. I had hoped to achieve this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The trial proceeds.
